I am a very lucky Mom to have two such wonderful, healthy, and happy children but these days there are times I feel like the only time I see them is when they scream by me. Pete and I are constantly saying/yelling/cajoling “No running in the house Jacob,” “No running in the store Jacob,” “Jacob stop!!!” And it appears big sister just doesn’t want to be left out of the fun.
Case in point, here’s Kate as she takes off and then Jacob as he runs on by.
Then Kate comes tearing back after Jacob and catches him, barely. All of course before he takes off again.
Oh, to have this level of energy again! But of course the love is always there.
Gardening update from the world of the one who has no clue what she’s doing…
For anyone interested in finding out if I’ve killed everything yet, just wanted to let you know “No, not yet.” My herb container (the one in the middle) is the only one that isn’t taking off like crazy but it seems to be holding its own. My tomato plants are doing beautifully and my snap peas are going to outgrow my support stakes soon. Still working on the next solution for that but I’ve kept ahead of them so far. And yes, those are hangers you see at the base of the peas, that was solution #1.
Now if I can just find some golden beet and carrot starts, I will be all set. I will be on the hunt this Sunday, wish me luck!
As many of you know from previous posts, Kate’s been involved in a hip hop dance class this last year with Miss Victoria. They’ve spent the year learning hip hop moves, planning choreography, getting to know each other and just generally having a grand time–all gearing up for the recital at the end of the season.
Here are all the girls from Kate’s dance class, the Wildcats, just prior to show time.
Top Row: Eleni, Miss Victoria, Rosi
Middle Row: Kyra, Hannah, Kaitlyn, Lauren
Bottom Row: Alex, Emmeline, Kate
Well, dance recital time finally rolled around and we wanted to share the group’s great performance; set to Wildcats from High School Musical 3.
In case any of you are curious, the sincere look of confusion mid-dance has to do with a very unfortunate CD skip that caused the group of 5-8 year olds to lose about 30 seconds of their music. I find it highly impressive that the girls’ poise led them back into the routine and through to the end. They are troopers!
Another very brave and courageous group that many of you have heard about are the Dorky Dads. Miss V in her wisdom, and the seemingly infinite dark side to her sense of humor, decided to choreograph a routine for the Dads of the dancers brave enough to volunteer their Dad’s time. The result you will have to see for yourself. Enjoy!
Mother’s Day became Mother’s weekend this year to accommodate schedules and avoid the craziness. Kate, Jake, Pete, Gma Roo, Auntie Tricia and I spent a beautiful (the sunshine was amazing) and relaxing Saturday evening dining out at Coho Cafe.
Then my husband and children gave me a great Mother’s Day gift this year–they gave me Sunday off! A day where I got to do whatever I chose without consequense. I think the funniest part to me is that what I chose to do is live like my husband for a day. I stayed in my pajamas, played Rock Band, took a nap, and in general, any time the kids asked me for anything, I told them to talk to their father.
I hope all the Mothers out there had as wonderful a Mother’s Day as I did!
