Woke up this morning to a completely flat tire with what I thought was a huge nail sticking out of it…

Nope, that’s a screw…I needed new tires anyway.

I have to say the equipment that comes with the car for changing tires could be better. It only took me about 45 minutes to finally get the tire changed. Guess it’s time to get cleaned up and hit Les Schwab now.

To be fair, this only applies to, as Pete calls them, the BIG 3 (since the WNBA Championship winning Storm are still doing very well, even with Lauren Jackson’s injury). But let’s run through the foibles that are those other Seattle sports teams we all know and would love to love.
The previously monikered Sonics, finally named the Oklahoma City Thunder, officially started their new season in Oklahoma this year. The deceitful new owners did what they were always planning on doing and the city of Seattle, impotent and incompetent, pulled their usual too little too late. I feel like good riddance is the right thing to say but the Sonics were the only championship winners in the BIG 3, so that seems short sighted.
The Mariners have lost the most games this year with an MLB leading record of 97 losses / 57 wins. The worst record in baseball with the 8th highest payroll. We suck so bad that Pete and I walked into the 8/18 White Sox v. M’s game we saw on our trip to Chicago assuring the Sox fans that they had nothing to fear, and there was not a doubt in our mind that we were right.
And then we have the Seahawks. Before the season started, Pete and I thought there was a glimmer of hope in our sports lives. All the sports writers were at worst putting the Seahawks as #1 in the NFC West, which would at least get us to the first round of the post season. Then the rug was pulled out. An 0-2 start after losing every single WR you’ve heard of and 2 others that you haven’t. We have 6 WRs gone or on the injured list–who does this happen to? Seattle!
But we will perservere!

Even if we really feel like this…

Kate started back at school on September 2nd in Kindergarten at America’s Child Montessori. Same school, new teacher. Kate is in Miss Traci’s class this year and she loves it. We didn’t think Kindergarten would be that different but were wrong – Kate has homework.
Pete was more than a bit incredulous at first but now he’s really warming up to it.
One of Kate’s nightly assignments is that she has to read a book to us. The goal of this is to get her reading on her own. Since she has many of the stories that we’ve been reading for years memorized, we decided to go get her some new books. And thus we were introduced to Bob. The equivalent for my generation is Dick and Jane but you all know the type of books I am talking about. The books start out with short sentences and many 3 letter words and then build on these skills to become increasing complicated.
Here is Kate reading “Sam” to her dad. The next time you’re over, maybe you can ask Kate to read to you.
