We discovered today that Jacob is up to 6 teeth, 4 on top and 2 on the bottom. We tried and tried to get photos of the teeth but Jacob is very private when it comes to us attempting to record certain types of information for posterity. So we decided to go a different route and demonstrate what he has learned to do with all those munchers…

Carry Toys! He is pleased as punch that he can now carry 2 or more toys easily while crawling all over the house (normally one in each hand and one in his mouth).

Gums just wouldn’t cut it for this exercise. His trucks work nicely as do the firefighters. Sorry Troy, Jacob just wants you with him all the time.

When Kate was six months old Daddy wanted a picture of her tiny little hands. You can see one of my favorite photos below.

Since then I’ve been meaning to continue this, and make it a set. I remembered to do it at Christmas 2006.

When we did it in 2006, I explained why to Kate so she could help me keep up the tradition. She kept reminding me we needed to take another picture of our hands. Daddy finally got motivated, and number three in the set is now here.

Jacob has been having too much fun at daycare recently playing a new game we like to call chase and roar. He will crawl, with deceptive speed, at his “victim” roaring all the way. When he catches whomever he has chosen to chase, he expects them to then chase him and roar. Back and forth. Forth and back. Until as all children’s game do with relative quickness, someone will get bored and the game will end for lack of participants.
The only bad part about the game is that Jacob keeps trying to play with the other “babies” (the kids under 2) and he is scaring them half to death. It seems that Jacob is playing a little out of his age range, probably due to his sister’s influence, and so the babies can’t really get what he is trying to do.
Jacob did engage me in the game at home this weekend so I decided to capture the experience for you.
Innocent Jacob ponders the ”chase and roar.”

The charge begins.

Target achieved. “Your turn, Mom.”

I must say when you’re 6 feet tall, the game is pretty fun. I don’t know what I would think if I was the same size as Jake though.

Kate received a doctor’s kit for Christmas and while she’s loved playing with it before, she has been on a tear this weekend about wanting to give us all check ups. I don’t know if it’s because she had to visit her doctor this week due to an ear infection or if it’s just because she is four but Dr. Kate has been in the house.

Of course what’s not to love with the matching pink stethescope? And here she is listening to Daddy’s heart.

He received a clean bill of health.

I promised a while ago to update you on Jacob’s growing eating habits (believe me, I do mean growing). Jacob started eating veggies and fruits 2 months early. Now Jacob’s doctor also decided to have us feed him table foods 3 months early, just so we can try to keep up with that appetite of his. His cuisine repetoire has grown to include the staples: cheerios, puff cereals, yogurt, banana, crackers, bread, etc. And today we were working on blueberries and cheese. His dexterity is improving immensely since the boy loves to eat and he’s way too impatient to wait for Mom to keep up. Here he is feeding himself some cheese.

And he’s only slightly pleased by the results…

It was over many rivers and driving in parallel to the Olympic National Forest, but after 5 hours on the road we made it to great-grandmother’s house. Great Grandma Darlin’ had not yet met Jacob so Kate, Grandma Roo, Jacob and I all made the trek in Daddy’s dirty, dirty car (not kidding here, I had more than a few comments on it while we were on the road).
Kate and Great Grandma Darlin’ decided to pose first to warm up the camera.

Then we got a nice group shot of Great Grandma Darlin’, Kate, Jacob, and Grandma Roo.

And finally, Kate talked Mom into getting out from behind the camera to pose for another Kate photo shoot. She has an eye for knowing when to capture Jacob.

And we now have four generations of the Jester family tree captured twice. Great Grandma Darlin’, Grandma Roo, Mom, and Jacob above. Great Grandma Darlin’, Grandma Roo, Mom, and Kate below (taken in November 2003).

Daddy decided to give Jake a bath in our bathtub last night. So since I had my hands free and dry, I thought I would take a quick photo of crazy baby in the tub. Jake is just learning that if you hit the water with your hands, feet, whatever… that these wonderful splashes of water jump at you. Or even better at mom or dad! He liked his baths before but now he squeals in delight.

All parents of Croc owners will already understand the title of this post but for those of you new to the world of Jibbitz, let me just say that I thought all the ways marketers could steal my money were taken. I was so wrong…
Kate and I were enjoying a girls outing when we came across the Jibbitz retailer at the mall. Kate already has 2 pairs of Crocs and 3 Jibbitz but she was enamored by the assortment on display. And then, silly me, I couldn’t help myself and I decided to surprise her with 2 new Jibbitz. Please say hello to Belle and Sally as Kate’s new additions and the pre-existing flower and Ariel (TinkerBell is not pictured as she lives on Kate’s school crocs).

Kate had had such a good day playing with the girls she deigned to let Jacob enter the inner sanctum that is her room. It’s hard to tell in the shot but Kate is protecting Baby Elephant from her brother’s slimy hands. Awwww, little brothers!
