The Kate “Hawk” siting

Posted by Peter & Candice on September 30, 2007

Pete has recently purchased a new TV to fit the entertainment center (our previously TV was inadequately small–or so the men have said… hmmm…).

We christened the purchase with Pete playing hours of Halo3 and a Sunday Seahawks gathering at our house.  Miss Victoria brought over some extra Hawks gear and Kate started playing dress up the moment it arrived.  Here is her most accomplished outfit.

Daddy has trained her well.  She was yelling “Go Seahawks” throughout the game and whatever sport she is watching she wants the Seahawks to win.

Look, I have a tongue!

Posted by Peter & Candice on September 26, 2007

Jacob has been having a great time hanging out with Daddy.  He spends a lot of time in his ExerSaucer, and in the Bumbo.  The Bumbo let’s him actually sit upright, which he is getting really good at.  Today Daddy was working on the computer and Jacob kept making raspberries and spit bubbles.  He definitely knows he has a tongue now.

The Faces of Jacob

Posted by Peter & Candice on September 18, 2007

Today I got a surprise when Jacob decided that a 20 minute nap would be enough while I was in the shower.  Needless to say he was very hungry and let me know it as you can see below.

Once we got a bottle ready and in his mouth he got much calmer, but you can see the trauma it caused by the tear in his eye.

Once his appetite had been sated, he became a much happier boy.

Lunch at 6234 feet

Posted by Peter & Candice on September 16, 2007

Saturday, I put my life in the hands of my friend Joe as he drug me up to the peak of Alta Mountain in the Cascades.  We left for the mountain at 8 in the morning and made the peak around 2:30 in the afternoon.  You can take a look at the topographical map of our trek here (3 MB).  The first 2.5 miles were fairly flat and easy…then the pain began.  We stopped by Rachel Lake for a rest and a snack before pushing onto Rampart Ridge to head up to the peak.  Somewhere along the way we lost the correct trail and ended up down by Lila Lake, which was beautiful, but left us hundreds of feet below the ridge.  Joe picked a path that he guessed was about 35 degrees but felt more like 75 and we spent the next 30 minutes scrambling up the side to get to the ridge.  When we made it to the top, we sat down for a rest and some lunch.  During our time up at the peak, we met 10 different folks including a man who had brought his two dogs up to the top.  After that, there is nothing left but to head back down.  We got back down to the car at around 6:30 at which point my legs were destroyed from the 10 miles.

Daddy Daycare

Posted by Peter & Candice on September 14, 2007

I get to stay home from the 27th of August through the 7th of October and take care of Jacob (Thank you Microsoft!).  Everyone keeps asking me how it’s going and I always say…”We have good days and bad days”.  Lucky for me, the good days have outweighed the bad.

So far, I’ve done far more outside the house with Jacob than I ever did with Kate.  One of the beautiful days last week I got Jacob all dressed up and took a walk with him down to the local Starbucks.  The walk there was great (it’s all downhill), the walk back, not so much.

Jacob wears his warning: “I might barf”

I’ve been keeping track of what Jacob does every day (Yes…it is Eat, Play, Sleep, Poop).  I almost feel like I know what’s wrong at times, and then other times…he just makes no sense.  Welcome to Fatherhood.

And now, real food…

Posted by Peter & Candice on September 4, 2007

The latest update in the world of Jake–mmmmmmm, peas…  Per doctor’s orders, Jake has started eating real food 2 months early.  Yeah, he’s not big for his age at all! ;)

Luckily he enjoys every minute of it.  For most kids it is 1 spoon in, 2 spoons out.  Jake, on the other hand, won’t stop licking the spoon.  If only big sister Kate enjoyed her meals as much.

Week 1 = Peas.  Miss Kate is feeding Jake and Mom’s credited with the assist.

And then we have the week 2 carrot explosion aftermath.  Bugs Bunny watch out!

Stay tuned for more veggie tales updates.
