Kate goes to the fair

Kate is loving her new school!  Miss Anna, her teacher, is the best and Kate thoroughly enjoys all the fun activities she gets to do every day.

And just to see if they can get the kids to never want to leave, on Friday, 8/24, the school had its annual fair.  There were hot dogs, bouncy toys, water balloons, games, you name it.  But Kate’s favorite was the face painter.  Here is the best shot of her handy work, an ocean wave.

I don’t know if I am more amazed that my daughter sat still long enough for the painting to occur or that it lasted until she got home.

Jake’s 4 mo. check-up & Kate’s 1st day of school

Can we pack more change and upheaval in our kid’s lives right now?  Mom went back to work on 8/13.  We were very lucky to have Aunt Tricia on Jake watch last week.  This week is Grandma Roo.  And next week Daddy takes over the homestead until October; scared yet?

Add to that Jake’s 4 month check up where he received no fewer than 4 shots and just as he’s starting to get over his cold.  The good news to impart from this doctor visit is that he is perfectly normal, growing like a weed, and a beautiful sleeper!!!  YAY, Mom loves that!!!!  Here are the stats and a current snapshot:

Length = 26 inches (90%)

Weight = 16 lbs. 5 oz. (75%)  —  Let’s see, at Kate’s 4 month check up she weighed just under 13 lbs.   Mom’s arms are getting a very good workout!

Then there’s big sister Kate who started her first day of school today.  Not only did she impress her teachers to no end (they kept asking me what school she’d transferred from) but she is loving every minute of it.  Here is a picture of Kate at drop off this morning.

Kate’s next step

This is hitting me harder than I thought it would.  And yet, our kids just keep growing up right?  Kate spent her last day at daycare yesterday before starting at preschool.  She is utterly excited about going to school but I keep wondering when the fact that she won’t be going to Tim and Lisa’s every day will hit her.  She will still get to see them of course, Jake will be starting with them in October, but this is definitely a new phase for her.
