Congratulations from my Team

After taking the week off when Jacob was born I returned to work on Monday  4/23 to a normal looking office.  Thinking myself safe, I was completely surprised when I got to work on Friday morning.  My team had decorated the office in Congratulations on the birth of Jacob.  Here are a couple pictures from the camera phone showing it off.

Kate has been a little trooper when it comes to her little brother.  She always wants to hold him and take care of him.  She gives him gentle kisses before bed each night and helps keep an eye on him for Mommy and Daddy.

This weekend was all about Kate.  She did much better with her swimming lessons on Thursday so Daddy promised to take her to Chuck E. Cheese (she’s been talking about it non-stop).  She had a great time and was sooooo excited that Chuck E. Cheese waved at her.  Sunday Grandma Roo and Auntie Tricia took Kate to the pool to work on her swimming, and then had lunch at (Old) McDonalds.

Bath day = Unhappy Jacob

Jacob got his first bath at home today, it took teamwork from both his parents to pull this one off and he was not happy at all.

Once we got him all cleaned up, clothed and swaddled he calmed down pretty quick and Daddy and Jacob got to hang out a bit together.

We’re all home!

Candice and Jacob were discharged from the hospital at noon today, and we are all now at home relaxing and recovering.

Welcome to the world Jacob!

We got a call from the hospital at 7:30 a.m. to come in earlier.

• 8:30 a.m. – We are checked in, and into the room
• 9:30 a.m. – The inducement has begun
• 11:00 a.m. – The doctor arrived and broke Candice’s water.  Everything is going well so far.
• 12:30 p.m. – Bring on the drugs!
• 12:45 p.m. - Epidural is done.
• 1:00 p.m. – 6 cm
• 1:45 p.m. – 10cm
• 2:00 p.m. – The call has been made to the doctor.  Time to push.
• 2:06 p.m. – 2 contractions + pushing = Jacob

Candice and Peter finally welcome Jacob David Giffin to the world, at 8 pounds, 7 ounces and a length of 22 inches.  Everyone is doing very well!  You can check out some more photos here.

D-Day +4

We got confirmation from the hospital this afternoon, we will be inducing at 11:30 a.m. Monday morning. 

 On yet another day that Jacob does not want to bless us with his presence, let us not forget about our beautiful first child, Kate.

D-Day + 2

Still nothing.  Kate is staying home with Candice today for a mommy/daughter day before the baby brother comes along.

And we’ve reached the Due Date

Due Date: April 11th, 2007.

11:00 a.m.  There have been some contractions, but it doesn’t seem to be progressing.  We will be meeting with the Doctor later today to figure out what to do next.

 5:00 p.m.  We met with the doctor this afternoon and Candice is still at 2 cm.  Since today is his due date, we decided to schedule inducement for Monday if Jacob hasn’t arrived by then which gives Candice priority as a medical inducement instead of elective inducement since it will be 5 days past Jacob’s due date.

Jacob seems to be content with where he is at.  Another day spent waiting.
